Obituary for Donald A. Bourassa

South Portland- Donald A. Bourassa, 82, of Bonnybriar Road, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with his loving family by his side.

Don was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 8, 1935 the son of the late Ernest C. and Irene M. (Girouard) Bourassa. He attended local schools in Biddeford. Don enlisted and served in the United States Army.

On April 12, 1958, Don married the love of his life Theresa J. Poulin at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. After residing in the Biddeford area for a brief time, Don and Theresa made South Portland their home.

Starting work at a young age, Don worked for Colonial Cleaners in South Portland for several years. He began his career in the refrigeration and cooling business with Gallagher Refrigeration in Saco for many years before transferring to Holden Refrigeration in Portland where he remained until they closed. He then finished his working career with Johnson and Jordan, retiring in 1998 after more than 33 years in the refrigeration and cooling business. Don was a hard worker and would work long hours. When not at work he loved to be in the outdoors especially if he was fishing. He loved going dancing with Theresa and cherished the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends. He will long be remembered as the jokester of the family because Don loved to make people laugh.

He was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist and Holy Cross Church, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifelong member of the Scarborough American Legion Post #76.

Don was predeceased by a sister, Rachel Bourassa; and a brother, Paul Bourassa.
