Obituary for Leroy "Lee" L. Kimball

Cape Elizabeth - Leroy (Lee) L. Kimball, 66, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough.

He was born in Salem, Mass. on May 3, 1951, the son of Clement L. and Shirley (Eaton) Kimball. As a youth, Lee stayed with his aunt Pricilla in Middleton attending St. John’s School before returning to his family in Searsport to attend Searsport High where he played baseball.

He joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for two tours as a corpsman in Vietnam. He spoke often of serving on the USS Davidson and USS Mount Baker, as well as at Midway Island, Brunswick Naval Air Station, and on the Presidential Wing at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Lee served in law enforcement before moving to Cape Elizabeth where he married Penelope Radziucz Kinney and began a limousine service.

Lee was a member of St. Louis Church, Portland, where he was very active and enjoyed playing Santa for the children. He was Grand Knight of John Paul II Chapter 14246 and Maine District Deputy of District #13. Lee enjoyed woodworking, baseball, and participating in the Lab Rescue program.

Lee was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Kimball. He is survived by his wife, Pennie; sisters Jackie Howard and Cindy Gibbs of Searsport, Karen Agana of Florida; brothers Chris and Steve Kimball of Florida; plus children, grand-children, nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours celebrating Lee’s life will be held on Thursday, October 5 from 4-7PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Friday, October 6 at 9:15AM followed by a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Church, 279 Danforth Street, Portland. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
