Obituary for Walter S. Dombkowski

Falmouth- Walter S. Dombkowski, 78, of Carnoustie Dr. died peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
Walter was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 8, 1938 the son of the late Marion and Mary (Zydra) Dombkowski. He graduated from St. Francis Prep School in 1956 and then furthered his education at Academy of Aeronautics in New York, graduating in 1960. From December of 1961 to December of 1963 he was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Cuban Crisis.
On September 27, 1964 he married Regina Gorczynski at St. Stanislaus Kosta Church in Brooklyn, NY.
Walter worked as an engineer doing research and development for Bell Laboratories, a position he held for thirty five years before retiring in 1995. During his time at Bell Laboratories, Walter along with a co-worker, was awarded a patten for their development of Stand by Power. After a brief period of traveling, Walter and Regina, in 1998, moved to Maine making Falmouth their home.
Walter and Regina became faithful communicants at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland.
Walter enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter, son in law, and especially his two granddaughters. He loved constructing model cars and airplanes, spending time outside gardening or just going for a walk. Walter was a good person, quiet, a strong faith, very caring, and always concerned about others.
He is survived by his wife Regina Dombkowski of Falmouth; a daughter Suzanne and her husband Edward “Trey” Tamm of PA; two granddaughters, Rebecca and Erin Tamm of PA; a brother Richard Duane of NY.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street, Portland. Burial will follow in Blanchard Cemetery, Falmouth.
