Ann Sloan Howard, 89, was born in Rumford, Maine, daughter of Dr. Henry M. and Teresa Sloan Howard. She graduated from Saint Josephs Academy in Portland, Regis College, Weston MA, and Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. Following residency in Anesthesiology at Maine Medical Center, Dr. Howard practiced in Greenfield, Massachusetts, where she was on the staff of Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, and Farren Memorial Hospital, Montague, MA. During her years in practice, she served as President of the Franklin District Medical Society, Chairman of Department of Anesthesia at Franklin Medical Center for 15 years, Secretary and Vice President of the Medical Staff, and board member of the Greenfield Savings Bank. Dr. Howard was a member of the Western Massachusetts Anesthesiology Society, Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists, Massachusetts Medical Society, Ethics Discipline Committee for Massachusetts Medical Society, and a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. In retirement, Dr. Howard was active in the Friends of Scarborough Library, Greater Portland College Club, Scarborough Garden Club, and in the life of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Scarborough, Maine. Dr. Howard is predeceased by her brother Marshall H.A. Howard and sister Patricia Howard Peck, brother-in-law Robert Peck, niece Mary Wainerdi and nephew Marshall Peck. She is survived by a niece, Ann Roberson (David); two nephews, Michael Peck (Barbi) and William Peck (Brigitte); nephew-in-law, Harold Wainerdi; four great-nieces and five great-nephews, and many dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough. There will be no prior visitation.
