Scarborough - Our Mom, Emma R. Kane, went to join her beloved husband, Joe, on January 17th, 2017, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House surrounded by her beloved family. Mom was born the fourth child of Remi and Myrtle (Hayer) Labrecque on August 5, 1925. Mom grew up in Westbrook and graduated from Westbrook High School. It was at the Westbrook High dance that she met the love of her life, our father, Joseph Kane, and the rest is history. When Dad went off to war, mom worked at the South Portland Shipyards. Upon Dads return they were married on May 1st, 1947. In the early years of marriage mom took a job with Metropolitan Life Insurance where she worked until the birth of her favorite son, Dan, soon to be followed 18 months later by her son Tim. After raising her sons, Mom went back to Metropolitan Life Insurance where she retired poolside at her Francis Street home. Family meant everything to Mom as seen through her great love for all her nieces and nephews. She would refer to her nieces as her girls. Mom took care of Dad the last few years of his life until he passed in 1995. Mom was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Walter of Michigan, Philip Alice of Westbrook, Clarence Helen of Westbrook, Charlotte Leo of Westbrook.
