Jeanne Little Fox

October 15, 1932 ~ October 28, 2017
Freeport-Jeanne Little Fox, 85, of Freeport left us before dawn on Saturday,
October 28, from her home.
Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the third eldest child of Mary Brophy Little and
George Carlton Little. She grew up in Long Beach, NY and graduated at the top
of her class from St. Agnes Academy in Rockville Center, NY.
A pretty girl, she worked in beach clubs in Lido Beach, starting as a cigarette girl
and worked her way up to office jobs that would prepare her for what she would
later encounter in business in New York.
By age 25, she has secured a Manhattan apartment on Washington Square and
a job at Bon-R Reproductions, a graphic arts company whose chief clients
included Colgate and Revlon.
Jeanne and Joseph Spielman ran Bon-R Reproductions together and were
married for 25 years until his death in 1990. They lived in New Canaan, CT and
had a son, Paul Spielman, who passed away in 2009.
Jeanne then married Martin Fox, Senior Vice President of Purchasing at Revlon
(who passed away in 2006). They divided their time between Little Fox Island in
Freeport and Longboat Key, FL.
Jeanne enjoyed people. She entertained them, confided in them, and consoled
them. Her circle of friends was wide and varied. She had a keen eye for art,
antiques, and handsome men.
She is survived by her son, William Hopkins, and his wife Sarah of North
Yarmouth, ME; her brother, George Little, and his wife Beatrice; her
grandchildren, Rosemary and Joseph Spielman, William, Kevin, Eileen,
Mackenzie, and Finn Hopkins; and by her niece, Celine Little.
Jeanne's family wishes to thank Jackie, Carol, and Diane for their exceptional
care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, November
24, 2017 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Freeport, followed by a reception on her
island. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Freeport Community Services, 55
Depot St, Freeport, ME 04032.
