Maureen VanOver

South Portland- Mrs. Maureen P. (Lowe) VanOver, 68, of South Portland, died November 8, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. Maureen was born on August 7, 1946 in Portland, ME to Burleigh and Halina (Szczepanski) Lowe. She graduated from South Portland High School Class of 1964. On August 12, 1967 she married William VanOver. Together, they shared 47 years of marriage. For over 20 years, Maureen worked with local Hallmark Stores. She also volunteered at Mercy Hospital and later managed the Gift Shop in the Hospital. A communicant of St. John and Holy Cross Parish, Maureen was actively involved in the St. Johns Choir for many years. Maureen was predeceased by her mother, Halina Lowe. She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, William VanOver of South Portland; father, Burleigh Lowe of South Portland; daughters, Ingrid VanOver Smith and husband Charles of Simpsonville, SC, Cristin Michele Plaisted and husband Ron of Rochester, NH; son, Jonathan William VanOver and fianc Heather Milliken of Westbrook; grandson, Owen Christopher VanOver; brothers, Michael Lowe and wife Kathy of Naples, ME, Christopher Lowe of Weston, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway. Prayers will be recited at the chapel at 9:15am on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 followed by an 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland. Memorial Contributions may be made to New England Cancer Specialists, 100 Campus Drive, Suite 108, Scarborough, Maine 04074.
