Portland-William M. McClay Jr.,88, of State Street, died Friday, February 10, 2017, at Pine Point Center in Scarborough. He was born in Bangor on July 9, 1928, a son of William M. Sr. and Mary E. (Coney) McClay. He attended Bangor schools and graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School. He married Beatrice Inman on February 25, 1948, at Saint Marys Church in Bangor. He worked in sales of wholesale pharmaceutical products and was a member of the New England Pharmacy Association. He was past president of Traveling Mens Association, a professional salesman group, and a former scout leader. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and wintering in Florida. He is predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Ann Stefanski and Katherine Jane McClay. He is survived by his loving wife Betty; a daughter, Barbara Angelasante and husband Michael of Old Orchard Beach; two sons, Ronald M. McClay and wife Nancy of Marco Island, Florida, and Gerald A. McClay and wife Joanna of Old Orchard Beach; a sister, Connie Jean Martin of Bangor; seven grandchildren, Kathy, Ron, Billy, Scott, Philip, Erin, and Heather; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring followed by burial at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery.
